Picture Frame Design
PalmSHIELD’s designers utilizes Picture Frame Design for creating the look of architectural screening, rooftop screening, and gates in Fargo. Every panel’s fabricated to stand on its own without twisting out of shape. What’s more, our panels are easily removed. Reinstallation is likewise simple, and these panels feature superior ventilation. PalmSHIELD can be also be configured as screens, rooftop screenings, grills, and gates. (The options on gates include swing gates as well as slide gates.)
Cable Railings
Having designed and installed railings for 50+ years, PalmSHIELD remains the industry leader for cable railing systems. Today, we fabricate both interior and exterior application systems and have even designed a system of our own. Field assembled design, also known as welded frame design, can be modified to suit changes in both elevation and direction. Fully framed systems are essential due to the minimum of 10 cables required to equate a half ton’s worth of pulled force. System failure is more likely without a full frame.
Gorilla Hinge
Gorilla industrial hinges, which use 1/2″ plates for mounting gates and gate posts, are an original design of PalmSHIELD’s. A built-in slight offset allows the gate to shut slightly beyond its full close point, thereby avoiding issues where posts being set a fraction of an inch off the mark prevents a full closure. Solving issues such as these with original designs is one part of what makes us the top contractor for architectural screening in Fargo, ND.
THE SPECS
PalmSHIELD’s architectural louvered screens, custom fabricated to each application, allow end users to determine the amount of air flow and visibility that passes through spacing between the louvers. These louvers may be placed vertically, horizontally, and diagonally.
PalmSHIELD is also unique in that we provide the industries’ widest louver:
- .1250 thickness
- 2” x 2.873” tall installed profile
In addition to a larger profile, PalmSHIELD’s screening features sloped profiles for increased airflow and less visibility. A wide selection of perforated metal, square welded, or woven wire mesh — not to mention many grating infill options — are available.
Each louver is welded to 3” x 3” x ¼” angle vertical supports. (Welded wire mesh, perforated metal, and grating is shop welded to meet IBC and UBC codes.) Due to the larger vertical support, PalmSHIELD provides a 2 ¾” weldable surface to attach louvers to the frame.
The majority of architectural screening doesn’t provide top caps, which are essential to protecting panels from falling debris, hail, etc. PalmSHIELD, however, uses 3” x 3” x ¼” angle top and bottom caps. (The bottom cap protects the screening from low-lying equipment such as mowers.) The industry’s only picture frame design is achieved with the welding together of horizontal caps and vertical supports. To support louvers between the framework, PalmSHIELD uses a 2” x 1/8” aluminum flat bar, which prevents exceeding 24” apart. This support also helps prevent intruders from gaining access.
Because it’s larger than most systems, PalmSHIELD uses a 4” square x ¼” or 3/8” wall post, and posts typically do not exceed 60” on center. These larger, thicker walled posts help stand up against snow loads and high winds. All nuts, bolts and fasteners are made of stainless steel. Swing gates are incorporated into your system use our industrial gorilla hinges.
Of course, preparation of materials is most important to any coating system. Here at PalmSHIELD, all materials are carefully sweep blasted and powder coated following the fabrication process. Sweep blasting removes foreign debris and also opens aluminum for adhesion. Did we also mention that custom colors are available for our architectural screening in Fargo, ND? Polyester powder coating is used in accordance with material hardness ASTM 3363 2H.
